Why this matters for IOP
IOPs play a crucial role in sustaining long-term sobriety. They bridge the gap between structured treatment and independent living, providing consistent accountability and skill reinforcement — two of the strongest predictors of recovery success.
At Foundations Group Recovery Centers – Ohio, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is built for those who need structured, evidence-based care with the flexibility to maintain their work, school, or family responsibilities. Our program empowers individuals to make lasting progress in recovery—without stepping away from daily life.
Whether you’re stepping down from inpatient care or starting your recovery journey, our IOP offers the structure, support, and flexibility to help you succeed.
Located in Columbus, we work with individuals from nearby communities like Westerville, Gahanna, Dublin, Powell, Lewis Center, Worthington, Hilliard, Grove City, Marysville, New Albany, and Delaware, OH. No matter where you’re starting from, we’re here to help you take the next step—on your terms.
Most Intensive Outpatient Programs require 9–15 hours per week of therapy, typically spread over three to five days. This schedule allows for meaningful engagement without overwhelming your personal or professional responsibilities.
Yes. Many clients continue to work or attend school while in IOP. Foundations Ohio offers flexible scheduling options, including daytime and evening groups, so treatment can fit into your life rather than disrupt it.
No. IOPs are designed for clients who live at home or in a supportive sober-living environment. This allows you to apply recovery skills in real-world situations while still having the structure and accountability of treatment.
IOP is a step down from a PHP, offering less daily intensity but ongoing therapeutic support. It’s more structured than standard outpatient therapy, which may only involve weekly sessions. IOP bridges the transition between intensive care and independent recovery.
After completing IOP, many clients continue with individual therapy, alumni programs, or community-based support groups like AA or SMART Recovery. The goal is to maintain momentum through continued connection and accountability.
Most major insurance plans do cover Intensive Outpatient Programs as an approved level of care for substance use and co-occurring disorders. Contact our admissions team to verify your benefits and understand your coverage options.
